Elder Uchtdorf visits Chile - Why Church?

A lot has happened since my last email. my bad lol

First of all, I got a new comp from Spain.  He is super dope and has a really weird accent!  He's a bro and loves working hard with me!  We are killing the game here. I'm in the same Ward I have been in now for four months! We taught a rlly cute family about the Plan of Salvation and they loved it! We watched the Plan of Salvation video and then gave the three kids pictures of the different places and had them put them in order from pre-mortal life to the kingdoms of glory! The kids loved it and it made it really easy for the parents to understand. It was fun as well because the parents went to see Elder Uchtdorf with us and didn't understand some of the words he said and had a lot of questions about his talk.  We spent time talking about it and they they understood the words better.  It is so much better to keep the vocabulary simple while teaching so everyone understands it!

Elder Uchtdorf's talk was so cool and I was able to shake his hand so that was crazy! He talked about the differences from Joseph Smith's time to our time. He talked about how back then it was more about which church is true and now the big question in the world is Why Church? It was super cool because he answered it in such a cool way. He said that we have church to give us a spiritual nutrition and spiritual well being in our lives. When we are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, we tend to have the Holy Ghost with us and people notice it! He said that the Holy Ghost gives us a feeling of joy and peace in our lives.  He said that the Chileans really need this message right now because they are still protesting and are going to protest more in March!

I took my district to contact in a mall this past week and we handed out Book of Mormons. We were able to explain what the BOM is and why it is so important in our lives! We had this great district meeting and I was explaining why it is so important to lead with the BOM and then I said let's go and that's what started the district meeting contacting at the mall!  The boys were pumped because most of the time the meetings in the zone are boring but we went out and contacted together.  It was a fun little activity where we handed out 10 BOMs and we had some great discussions with people.

We also taught a girl we gave a Book of Mormon to last week and she has already finished reading it. She called us 2 days after we gave it to her and she loved it and said she understood it better than the bible.

I had a dope interview with President and we talked about how sometimes we just have to thank the lord for the ride and enjoy it. (from President Hinckley)

We found a cool kid from Haiti and took him to a baptism. He loved it. He is teaching me Creole and I learned how to say how are you my friend koman ou ye zanmi. He is a super funny kid.  We have been teaching him in Creole and in Spanish and a little of English. We also taught this cute family this week about how families can live together forever. Now they want to get married and before we taught them, they didn't even think about marriage. We also taught a less active girl with her family.  Her family are not members and they loved it. They said they felt this happiness when we walked in the room and they want to feel it all the time.  So our goal with them is to bring them into the church so they can feel the joy that is only in the gospel.

I think in life every person has to find a rock of happiness that will give them happiness every day even when they are sad.  I've found and seen the gospel be this rock.  This rock will help our families grow closer and feel the Holy Ghost more! It's really cool to see the people share their testimonies with us (like how people learn to pray and how people learn more about Jesus Christ).  They are so thankful for the work we do for them and their families. It is so awesome! The mission has taught me so much! I'm stoked to keep grinding out here.  The days are going by so fast. I am trying to make the most out of every day and help as many people as I can!  The protest are starting back up, but it is fun contacting people like hey we are missionaries and we support your decision to fight for your rights and they love it!

I got my haircut like the chileans. I'm embracing the culture here, loving life and grinding!  Thanks for the prayers. They are helping me more than you think!

Love you guys!
